Cyclists in East Yorkshire are now able to try out seven new leisure cycle routes all beginning from the historic town of Beverley.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has developed a new free cycle map for the town including rides suitable for a range of cyclists, from novice riders to those looking for a more challenging route.
Most of the rides run along quiet roads or off-road paths and take in some of the picturesque local scenery as well as passing via local attractions such as Beverley Minster and Skidby Mill.
The map has been developed by the council’s transport policy team using funding from our third local transport plan. The Beverley map is the latest addition to a series of leisure cycle maps which cover Driffield, Pocklington, Goole and South Holderness.
Over 13,000 copies of these maps have been sent out since they were developed and the routes have proved extremely popular with local residents and visitors to the area.
Councillor Chris Matthews, said:
“We have been extremely pleased with the popularity of our existing leisure cycle maps and the new Beverley map will be a valuable addition to the series. Cycling is a great way to get active while exploring the beautiful East Yorkshire countryside and we hope that local and visiting cyclists will enjoy the rides included on the new cycle map.”
