Orienteering In The Autumn In Hull And East Yorkshire

Orienteering

The local Orienteering club, Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteers (HALO) are organising a series of Autumn Orienteering events on Saturdays in Hull and East Yorkshire aimed at beginners. Orienteering is a great way of keeping fit as well as being an activity that the whole family can enjoy.

The series starts at Beverley Westwood on September 20th. The second event will be in at the Humber Bridge Country Park on October 15th and the third event will be at, the ever popular, East Park on November 18th.

All three events are suitable for families and individuals, and coaching will be available if required. For the Beverley Westwood event, the meeting point will near to the York Road / Newbald Road junction. Starts will be anytime between 1pm and 3pm.

The Saturday Events are aimed at beginners to the sport but always include a technical course for the more able. There will be four courses as normal: White (junior beginners); Yellow (improving juniors); Orange (adult beginners and experienced juniors) and Technical (experienced Orienteers).

Entry fees are £3 for adults and £1.50 for juniors. This includes free hire of the chips which are used for the electronic timing of the event. Harder courses can be attempted for no extra charge after successful completion of the easier courses.

Additionally, the club is organising a series of Thursday evening urban events across the region with the first one around Cottingham on September 18th. Meeting at the Fair Maid Inn.

Full details of these and all HALO events can be found on the club web-site (www.halo-orienteering.org.uk). Further information is also available by emailing neil@halo-orienteering.org.uk
