Following an appeal on BBC Crime Watch on Tuesday 16 September officers investigating a burglary on St Leonards Road in Beverley received information regarding the whereabouts of two suspects.
The information led officers from Humberside Police to an address in Coventry. Two people were arrested on Wednesday 17 September and taken to a police station in Coventry to be questioned by officers investigating the case.
The pair were questioned in relation, not only to the burglary in Beverley, where £20,000 of jewellery was stolen, but also to frauds in Hull, Beverley and Coventry and a theft in Warwickshire.
Mark Christopher Daly and Carol Susan Canham appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court on Friday 19 September charged with several counts of theft and fraud.
42-year-old Mark Christopher Daly, originally from Coventry, was charged with theft from dwelling in Beverley, fraud in Beverley, fraud in Coventry and theft in Warwickshire.
48-year-old Carol Susan Canham, originally from the East Riding of Yorkshire, was charged with theft from dwelling in Beverley, fraud in Hull and fraud in Coventry.
Detective Sergeant Tom Napier said, ‘We had a really great response from the public following the appeal on BBC Crime Watch, which has proven invaluable in locating the suspects and the subsequent arrest and charging of them.’
