Set on a cold, bleak, biting Christmas Eve seven years after the death of his business partner Jacob Marley, London’s meanest miser Ebenezer Scrooge is his usual grumpy old self. Scrooge hates Christmas, calling it ‘humbug!’
But as the clock strikes midnight his world will be turned upside down. Three ghosts are visiting him to offer visions of a happy past, a harsh present and a horrific future. Can they convince Scrooge to change his wicked ways in time for Christmas?
The ensemble cast includes actors who are very much local to the Beverley area starting with father and son team, Malcolm Tomlinson as Ebenezer Scrooge and Ross Tomlinson playing young Scrooge.
The ghost of Jacob Marley will be performed by Richard Avery and Gordon Meredith plays the down trodden clerk Bob Cratchit. Belle the young beautiful woman who Scrooge loved deeply is to be played by Hester Arden. Annie Kirkman takes on the role of Mrs Cratchit and Clive Kneller is to be Fezziwig.
A Christmas Carol runs from Thursday 17 December 2014 to Saturday 3 January 2015. Tickets start from as little as £10 with concessions, and generous group discounts, which can be purchased online at www.eastridingtheatre.co.uk
