This match was originally arranged as a friendly for two sides with a gap in their fixtures but was later designated as an inter league Round Robin Cup game by the league.
In the event both sides served up an exciting encounter at the Leisure Centre that was played at a breakneck pace. Indeed midway through the second half an upset against the Premier Division frontrunners looked on the cards as the blue and golds led 20-10.
Beverley handed debuts to two former products of the Beverley Braves youth system. Lewis Poskitt was drafted in at scrum-half and returning fresh from his South Africa tour, Jack Howdle was slotted into the second row.
It was the Blue and Golds who were first on the scoreboard courtesy of Louis Hubbard charging over to make a spell of pressure on the visiting line pay off.
The coversion was missed and the Knights were on level terms ten minutes later with an unconverted try. Beverley looked to regain their lead when a long break from Jack Howdle saw him evade several defenders but could not find any support runners which would have almost certainly resulted in a try.
North Hull did regain the lead minutes later when Ryan Watkin slotted over a penalty. This increased when a run from Jack Howdle saw him sneak an offload away to send Josh Poole over in the corner for a try that was unconverted. The hosts were good value for their 10-4 interval lead.
Early moments of the second half saw Beverley enjoy their best moments in attack as they camped out in the visitors 20 meter zone forcing a couple of line drop-outs. The pressure paid off when a switch of play to the blind side from Steve Connolly saw Craig McNee go over wide out.
North Hull again replied with a converted try but the home sides reply was equally swift. A mix up by the visitors when in possession in their own half saw Lewis Poskitt intercept, sprint away and score. Watkin added the extras and there was high excitement for a cup upset with the scores standing at 20-10.
In the event the visitors monopolised possession and territory in the final quarter of the game to register a further four tries which gave the score a slightly flattering look.
However this proved to be a more than useful workout against one of the favourites for the league above. Jack Howdle took the man of the match award in a strong running all action display.
This Saturday Beverley are at home to Cottingham Tigers in the league. Kick off is 2pm at the Beverley Leisure Centre.
