Schoolchildren in Beverley can now enjoy a well-earned rest at playtimes – thanks to a new seating project completed by Linden Homes North.
As the house builder celebrates a sell-out at its award-winning St Nicholasgate development, youngsters at the neighbouring Beverley St Nicholas CP School are getting to grips with their new outdoor seating arrangements!
With the help of Mitchell & Urwin Brickwork Contractors Ltd, Linden Homes carried out its very own version of ‘DIY SOS’ – following an approach by the school, which had been fundraising for a new playground seating area.
Some £150 had been raised, and mum Faye Berry, an architectural assistant at NPS, designed the scheme based on the principles of how children develop through play.
Linden Homes North construction director Darron Facey said: “We were more than happy to help the school, with which we have built up a great relationship over the past few years.
“Having enlisted the help of Richard Urwin, and using Faye’s initial idea, we were able to source the materials and build the seating during the summer break – all ready for the children to use on their return in the new term.
“Mitchell & Urwin Brickwork Contractors Ltd generously funded the scheme and so we were able to return the £150 to the school for them to spend on another good cause.”
Teacher Elly Gay said: “Our huge thanks to Linden Homes and Mitchell & Urwin for their generosity in overseeing this project – we are delighted with the results and the children are already using the seating area.”
