Matthew Whiting, from Beverley’s Unique Salon, has become one of only five finalists from the UK in this year’s International Visionary Awards at the Alternative Hair Show.
The International Visionary Awards were originally created to encourage new talent within the UK hairdressing industry. It has since grown to give hairdressers from around the world the chance to showcase their work, which this year will be as part of the 32nd Annual Alternative Hair Show, Equilibrium, hosted at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Unique’s Matthew Whiting is fast becoming the area’s most wanted stylist. With a vision to create extraordinary hair, Matthew strives to break the rules and defies the boundaries to achieve stunning results that keep his clients happy every time.
Matthew’s interests in show stopping hair have also led him away from the salon and into the studio, playing an integral role in Unique’s photographic and stage team, styling for charity catwalk shows to Unique’s regular trend shoots.
All of these accolades have led Matthew to the chance of a lifetime to compete in this internationally renowned competition, which this year, has expanded to feature two categories; commercial cut and colour and avant-garde.
Matthew said, “It’s an absolute honour to be put forward with some of the most amazing creative hairdressers from around the world. There’s such a diverse range of finalists, it’s going to be really interesting to see what everyone else comes up with.”
Matthew will be one of only five contestants from the United Kingdom, competing against some of the best young talent in the industry including former FAME team member, IT List finalist and current Director at Flame Hair Studios, Ashleigh Hodges.
The International Visionary Awards will take place at the 32nd Alternative Hair Show, Equilibrium, at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 12th October.
