Beavers Face Toughest Test Yet With Visit Of Waterloo

Beverley return back to the comforts of Beaver Park without a win in 4 league games and welcome Waterloo who have been in impressive form so far this season.

The men from the Merseyside are flying high in second place with 6 wins & 1 loss from their first 7 games and will arrive with confidence to Beaver Park.

Director of Rugby, Junior Tupai is well aware of their threats and commented;

“They are a pretty formidable side this year. Although they avoided relegation last year, they had made some quality signings around Christmas time last season and were able to pull themselves out of the bottom three to go down.”

“That consistency near the end of the season has continued on to this season and as a result they are near the top of the table. They have a big pack and some old heads in the backline to steady the ship and will provide us with an extremely difficult test this weekend.”

Beverley made the long trip to Westoe last week with an inexperienced side and came away without any points which will be disappointing for Tupai and his coaching staff;

“Last was pretty disappointing from a results perspective. Westoe and ourselves have changed places on the table and that makes it all the more frustrating.”

“Our forward pack did well at lineout time and before Alex Ogilvie went off injured after 10 minutes, we were dominating at scrum time. We need to start beating the teams around us and show a bit more determination if we are to get ourselves off the bottom of the table.”

“It doesn’t get any easier with Waterloo who are one of the form teams this season and were one of the few teams who did the double on us last year.”

Beverley’s injury list continues to grow with Antony Maka picking up an injury midweek, Alex Ogilvie may have to past a late fitness test after injuring his neck against Westoe and Junipr Tupai continues to struggle with a shoulder injury not healed after the Lymm match.

However, they could be possibly offset by the availabilities of David Worrall, Ian Archibald and England Counties lock Stu Nel.

Beverley will select from the following: J Fell, K Renwick, A Ogilvie, M Adams, B Watson, D Brant, L Starbuck, J Bunn, Shaw, A McPeake, D Worrall, I Archibald, P Duboulay, A Smith, R Bussey, T Shires, D Hodgson, S Nel, J Tupai
