Beverley Integrated Transport Plan : Latest Update On Works In The Town

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has substantially completed its recent improvement work at Grovehill junction, with some final resurfacing works still to be carried out there in week commencing 1 December during the evenings (6.30 pm to 11.30 pm). Over the coming weeks, work will continue at that location to install the new permanent traffic signals which will control the junction from the New Year.

In addition, the council’s contractors will also be working next week to carry out resurfacing at Figham Junction. This will also take place in the evenings and overnight from 6.30 pm to 6.30 am.

Resurfacing works along Swinemoor Lane have resumed this week with a convoy system in operation to manage traffic flows and speeds. It is hoped that this section of work along Swinemoor Lane will be completed by this Friday (28 November) and if that is the case, work will take place this weekend – weather permitting – to install larger diameter surface water pipes across Swinemoor Lane, designed to cope with additional water flows from the Swinemoor Estate. This would assist Yorkshire Water to cope with expected capacity issues in the future.

Nigel Leighton, director of environment and neighbourhood services, said:”This continuing co-ordinated programme of works in Beverley has been carefully planned to mitigate any disruption to motorists as much as possible. However, given the extent of the work we are carrying out, some inconvenience is inevitable, and we apologise for the minor disruption from these remaining works and thank motorists for their continued patience.

“We would like to reassure motorists in Beverley that these works will mean significant long-term improvements to traffic flows through the town.

“The ongoing work gives us a great opportunity to offer assistance to Yorkshire Water by installing larger pipes to serve the Swinemoor Estate, and we are happy to do so.”
