Start Your Full-Time Course In January At East Riding College

East Riding College is offering a range of qualifications in the new year for young people who need support to get into work or want to start a course now.

Starting early in January at the College in Beverley, Bridlington and Hull, the courses will run for 12 weeks, with approximately 14 hours per week in College, including work experience.

They are available for people interested in construction, hair and beauty, hospitality, IT, marine engineering, motor vehicle and motorcycle maintenance and repair, multi-media, music, public services, sport and leisure, and visual arts.

Alison Gray, assistant director at the College, said: “These courses are aimed at people who are perhaps not in work or education but who really want to start now.

“They are an opportunity to build up your skills and knowledge to give you a better chance of getting a job or to help you move up to a more advanced course in September.

“Learning in the College environment means you are treated more like an adult and you do more practical work, and could really suit people who think that further study isn’t for them.”

Students will spend about six hours per week on the subject area of their choice, with a further three hours on “employability”, which gives them extra skills to help them secure employment, such as job interview practice, communication skills and writing a CV.

There will be further support on essential English and mathematics where required, as well as work experience.
