Drinkers in Beverley will be delighted to learn that the Game Bird Pub on Holme Church Lane will soon reopen.
The pub was closed by the former owner Wayne Low in October sparking outrage from some regulars.
When planning permission was submitted to demolish the boozer and build houses local councillors got involved.
Now just over two months on Mr Low has confirmed the pub will in fact reopen after he completed a deal with Batemans Brewery that was completed on Monday.
Speaking to HU17.net Mr Low said;
“The pub was always going to be sold. I put in the application as bit of ‘sport’ as when I closed it no one thought of picking the phone up and asking me what my plans for the pub were.”
New owners Batemans Brewery are a family business based in Lincolnshire and clearly put a high value on pubs and their importance in the community. The company who own over 60 pub states on its on website;
‘To us pubs aren’t ‘bricks and mortar’ they are the heart and soul of communities, where customers congregate to enjoy themselves, meet friends, relax and celebrate.’
For now it is good news for the regulars and locals of Beverley that a much loved pub will soon be open again business.
