New Navigational Challenge At Normandy Barracks

1110-Orienteering-Main

The local Orienteering club, Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteers (HALO), are providing an opportunity to try the sport of Orienteering on Sunday December 28th at Normandy Barracks, Leconfield.

This is the first time that the area has been used for orienteering since 1997, a brand new map has been prepared and the local club are very excited about the prospect of returning there.

HALO Chairman, Neil Harvatt says “this is a great area for Orienteering, the old runways are surrounded by numerous areas of woodland, each with a variety of technical terrain. This variety will challenge orienteers of all abilities.”

HALO are indebted to the Commandant and staff at the Defence School of Transport for permission to hold this event on the former airfield.

Orienteering is a great way of keeping fit as well as being an activity that the whole family can enjoy. Registration will be from 10am to 12noon in the car park which will be signed from the A164.

There will be courses available for all abilities from juniors to experienced orienteers.

Full details of this and all HALO events can be found on the club web-site (www.halo-orienteering.org.uk). Further information is also available by emailing neil@halo-orienteering.org.uk
