Beverley Town Football Club got 2015 off to the worst possible start as they were beaten by Bridlington Sports Club at the Norwood Recreation Ground.
After a first half that ended goalless Town survived a penalty that Bridlington wasted by missing the target from 12 yards.
When Bridlington did take the lead mid way through the second half the Champions were left to chase the game.
Town had a good shout for a penalty though match officials instead awarded a free kick.
Beverley Town manager Ross Cording speaking after the match said;
“I was a little disappointed with the final third of our play and the managers selections. I think I could have selected a slightly stronger team and have learnt something from this game.”
Beverley are now some sixteen points behind the Humber Premier League leaders Reckitts AFC.
Next weekend Town will again be at home as they host Wawne United.
