Beverley Town Reserves boss Ed Grady was left nothing short of ‘baffled’ by his sides performance this weekend against Bridlington in the East Riding County League.
Even though he was missing three regulars, Grady was entitled to expect something nearer to what his team have been producing in recent games.
Town started off well enough enjoying periods of possession but from the moment Bridlington pounced on a back pass that was under hit to score and then double their lead when a shot was helped in,Beverley never looked in the game. Town found themselves three down when a ball on the edge of the box was hooked over keeper Norton. Shortly before half time, Beverley were awarded a penalty which was scored by Adam Gibson.
In the second half, Beverley enjoyed lots of possession but often failed to create in the final third.Their best chance fell to Gary Collins after a scramble but his close range shot was saved on the line. Bridlington scored in the dying minutes on the break, rubbing salt in the wounds of the visitors.
There were some positives for Grady who used the game to give debuts to youngsters Olly Baldwin and Charlie Hewson.
This Saturday Town entertain North Ferriby United Reserves at Norwood, whilst the academy are away at Hull United Reserves.
