National Libraries Day – Saturday 7 February – celebrates libraries and the role they play in their communities.
It’s an opportunity for everyone, from regular customers to people who may never have visited a library before, to come in and discover more about the services on offer.
In the East Riding, residents will be able to visit their local library on Saturday 7 February to see the facilities available – and for the chance to win a prize.
At a pre-arranged time during the library’s opening hours, one lucky visitor will win a pair of tickets to a ‘Between the Lines’ author event of their choice, part of Beverley Literature Festival’s Festival on the Run, a copy of ‘The Girl Who Came Home’ by Hazel Gaynor; and a children’s book.
Councillor Richard Burton said:
“Our East Riding Libraries offer a vast array of services from free internet access and e-magazines, to Books on Prescription, reminiscence groups and Bounce and Rhyme sessions for toddlers. More than that, they are a hub within the community where visitors can be assured of a friendly welcome by expert staff.”
“National Libraries Day is a great way of highlighting this and I hope it will encourage even more people to visit their local library – and maybe win a prize.”
