Hometown Gig For Headliners As Quiet Riot Returns To Beverley

After attracting great attendances for the first three gigs Quiet Riot returns to Hodgsons in Beverley once again on March 27th. This month’s line up comprises of soloist Benjamin Kitching (DNA TV) , Rebel Sell, The Shed Club and headline act The Supersonic Jets..

Quiet Riot offers an opportunity for music fans in Beverley to enjoy some of the best music from the Hull and East Yorkshire music scene and gain a taste of the acts who perform at the big festivals such as the Humber Street Sesh and Freedom Festival

The Supersonic Jets, formed in 2013 have developed a devout and strong following. They affluently combine riffs that wouldn’t be out of place in 1960’s California with a tight rhythm section resulting in simplistic yet funky, fun, enjoyable indie rock. Their shows are exuberant, they love to engage their regular crowd in a way that is quite their own. Their songs are somewhat against what’s deemed ‘popular’ music, yet they seem to be able to accurately narrate the life of a typical, happy-go-lucky student.

Combining Strokesy rock with a new take on punchy indie pop music, their catchy riffs and bouncing baselines will keep you captivated, their live performances are always lively and they love nothing more to engage their audience. Their debut EP Electric Vibes was released online in August 2014. The band comprises of James Dyble – vocals rhythm guitar, Dave Measom – lead guitar, Sam Campbell – bass and Joe Worrall – drums. This is also one the first time that Joe and James have been able to play in their hometown of Beverley

The Shed Club are a young but highly rated five piece rock band from Hull who are influenced by bands such as The Stone Roses, Kasabian, The Smiths and Joy Division. They have already played at all the local festivals and venues across the city as well as recording a session for BBC Introducing.

Rebel Sell are a 4 piece rock n roll band from Hull formed in 2009 as the Walls. In 2012 the band started writing a new batch of songs with a new line up, and recorded the first single together named ‘Tomfoolery’. The band then came across a bump in the road as current name The Walls had already been taken by a band touring the UK and had the rights to name. To prevent confusion and clashes with the band and to clarify the change of the new line up the band decided to call themselves Rebel Sell.

Benjamin Kitching (DNA TV) is originally from the little village of Nafferton, played and busked around North America and Peru (2013) and stayed with Shipibo tribespeople in the Amazon. He returned to Britain to record first full album with a full band backing, and a new project name DNA TV in Brighton during 2014.He is now staying in Hull for a few weeks. Album ‘Interviews with butterflies about the caterpillar state’ out on Warren Records in the next few weeks. A BBC Introducing session with Alan Raw is also to be broadcast 28th March the night after the gig.

As well as the performers the ever popular Rebellious Jukebox dj’s will be playing their tunes till 12.45 as the dancing continues well after the last performer has completed their set on the evening. The Rebellious Jukebox provide the soundtrack to the evening with some of the best alternative sounds from the past 50 years with everything from the MC5 to Manic Street Preachers. Quiet Riot can be regarded as a combination of the Sesh and Spiders Nightclub in Beverley.

These evenings are gaining great feedback and to help promote these nights the ‘Quiet Riot’ CD was released to highlight acts we aim to bring to Beverley in January. The 23 track cd will once again be available on the evening and at Minster Records in Beverley for £3. This will also be available in Hull in the Chinese Laundry and POP (Pride Of Place) Art Space at the Upper Deck in Princes Quay.

The gig starts at 8.30 and admission is £5 on the door . Advance tickets of £4 are also available from Minster Records in Beverley, Molescroft News, Costcutter Cherry Burton and the Chinese Laundry in Hull City Centre.
