Beverley RUFC welcome Rossendale, from Manchester this weekend for their National Three North fixture having secured a much needed victory over Westoe to build some confidence leading into a special day for the club, Ladies Day.
Rossendale have had mixed results recently, winning two of their last six games and it is this inconsistency that see’s them sat in seventh place. Rossendale are well known for their top four finishes in this league and have some mighty battles of the years both here at Beaver Park and at the ‘Dale. Director of Rugby, Junior Tupai commented;
“Rossendale, regardless of their previous results are a quality team. Their forward pack is big, mobile and enjoy running with the ball in hand so defensively we need to make sure we turn up and not give them too much space.”
“Their backline are just as dangerous with a lot of pace out wide and a scrum half/ fly half combination with a lot of experience.”
“We’ll need to play a lot better than we did against Westoe to stand a chance against Rossendale but I’m happy with the little improvements we are making.”
Beverley’s win against Westoe closes down the gap between the two bottom teams to just three points but still leaves them propping up the table with four games remaining. Tupai continued;
“Overall the win was good but I felt we didn’t play to the potential that we had shown against the big teams like Sale and Waterloo.”
“We really lifted against those good teams but seemed to be flat for Westoe. Saturday is a big day for the club. It’s Ladies Day and we want to put on a good performance and hopefully show our supporters how much we have developed over the course of the season.”
“We’ll have some faces returning which will give us a boost and hopefully that will help get us over the line and a positive result.”
