Karinda Jones, the Fundraising Manager for Dove House Hospice says she is very grateful after members of the Beverley Building Society voted them as their charity of the month.
Karinda was speaking after Steve Wingfield was awarded the £250 donation which will go towards the money he has to raise to take part in a challenging trek across Iceland.
Speaking to HU17.net Karinda said;
“We’re so grateful to Beverley Building Society for supporting Steven with his fundraising. Steve is part of a team of 19 local people who are taking on a challenge of a lifetime and trekking Iceland for Dove House Hospice and collectively raising over £53,000.”
“Without the support of people like Steve quite literally going the extra mile in order to raise funds and businesses like Beverley Building Society supporting these efforts we would not be able to continue to provide the vital care we do to adults in Hull and East Yorkshire with life limiting illnesses.”
Steve was set a target of £2,800 to take part in the challenge and has exceed that amount raising over £3,000 for the local charity.
Graham Carter, Head of Business Development at the Beverley Building Society presented Steven with the money at the branch.
Commenting on their members choice Graham said;
“As a mutual society we let our members decide the causes that they feel we should support, and the Charity of the Month Competition allows us to do this perfectly.”
“They have chosen to support previous events organised to raise funds for Dove House Hospice and we are all delighted to be doing so again.”
“We wish each and every person who is taking part in the trek every success and we are very pleased that we were able to make a contribution to such a worthwhile cause.”
