Racing Angels team manager Andy Robinson says a photography event held on the banks of the River Humber this morning proved to be a massive success.
Despite the cold windy weather, organisers say during the morning around 15 to 20 local photographers attended.
Photos of the team in action are already appearing all over social media helping to raise the profile of the all-female team.
Speaking to HU17.net team manager Mr. Robinson said;
“We first organised the event after we were approached by the Driffield Photograpic Society.”
“The idea behind the event was for the team to gain some promotion and also for local photographers to get some action shots of the ladies on the water for their portfolios.”
The boat which is driven Demaza Johns and co-driver Tracey Robinson was put through its paces as the team looked to use the shoot to test some additional features that have been added to the steering mechanism of the boat.
Both ladies who operate the boat working the medical profession. Mrs. Johns who is the driver is a nurse while Mrs. Robinson former member of the Royal Navy is a paramedic east Yorkshire ambulance service.
In the coming months, the ladies would compete in ThunderCat UK Race Series and if all goes according to plan, they will look to take up their place in the World Championships in October that are being held in Malta.
Mr. Robinson added;
“Those who came today got to witness what was a series of straight runs, cornering and wave skimming all of which are techniques that the girls use when competing in the ThunderCat UK race series.”
“We are hoping that by holding events like this will be able to raise the profile of the team and with any luck, help attract new sponsors.”
Future events are being planned by the team with different locations like Flamborough been put forward as a possibility.
Mr. Robinson said;
“Overall we are very pleased about how today went. We received lots of good feedback from the people who came today.”
