UKIP Meet Bus Boss On Rural Transport Links

UKIP Transport Spokeswomen, Jill Seymour MEP were in the area this week visiting EYMS Group Ltd, which provides bus services in the East Yorkshire area.

Local MEP’s, Mike Hookem and Jane Collins accompanied Jill to the meeting together with Gary Shores, UKIP Parliamentary Candidate for Beverley & Holderness and Andrew Weaver, UKIP councillor candidate for Mid-Holderness ward.

Jill met with EYMS proprietor, Peter Shipp to discuss a range of topics, including the cost of fuel to bus operators especially since the bus service operator’s fuel rebate was cut in 2014, OAP concessionary fares and the impact of EU legislation on bus services.

Speaking after the meeting, Jill Seymour MEP said,

“UKIP are determined to listen to all parties involved in the public transport sector and today’s meeting was very informative.”

Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire MEP, Jane Collins said,

“UKIP understand just how important bus services are for the people of Hull and Yorkshire as a whole. We are very concerned the due to cuts in operators rebates, some services will suffer, especially in rural areas.”

EYMS owner, Peter Shipp said,

“I was very pleased to be able to welcome Jill, Jane and Mike to Hull today. Our meeting was very constructive and all parties have taken a lot away from it.”
