Town Old Boy Comes Back To Haunt Them As Walkington Claim All Three Points At Longcroft

Beverley Town Football Club were beaten by local rivals Walkington at Longcroft School this weekend in the East Riding County League.

Town went into the match full of confidence following a good home win the previous week. However, in a tight game Walkington, who stil have one eye on the championship claimed all three points.

Walkington started the game the stronger of the two. However, it wasn’t until the final 20 minutes of the match really sprung into life.

Beverley Town but fell behind in the match as former Town player Luke Thompson scored with a volley to give Walkington the lead.

Responding well Beverley was soon back on level terms thanks to a spot kick Adam Gibson’s as the side went in at the break all square.

The change of formation by town saw them start the second half stronger. Alex Stark was now played up front alongside Gibson, but it was Walkington, who went back in front to take control of the match through the head of Jason Crisp.

Again Beverley town push but they were unable to get back on level terms and any hope of getting anything from the game was soon ended when Adam Ali finished smartly with a low drive into the bottom corner to seal the victory.

Beverley Town remain in seventh place in the table following the defeat, but for Walkington, victory keeps them hot the heels Wawne United the team who will face Beverley next weekend.
