Woodmansey Primary School’s dream of creating a tri-sensory garden in memory of a much-loved teacher is one step closer to reality after the PTFA’s bid for funding from The Aviva Community Fund was successful in progressing to the public voting stage.
The plan to create a garden in an unused, unusually-shaped area of Woodmansey Primary School involves making a space where children can enjoy creative writing, music making, and listening to stories. The area will house a story-chair dedicated to a young teacher who sadly passed away in 2012 but is warmly remembered for her singing and story telling.
Becky Fielding-Smith, chair of Woodmansey School PTFA said;
“The PTFA is extremely excited to have the chance to bid for £5000 from the Aviva Community Fund. This will be enough to give the children and the wider school community a fantastic outdoor learning environment.”
The tri-sensory garden will also be available to use for school community events, and the school’s pre-school group Woodmansey Woodlets. The success of the bid now depends upon getting enough votes from the public before the judging panel make a final decision.
Becky Fielding Smith added “We now need as many public votes as possible to show Aviva that the project is supported by the wider community. We are only a very small school and we need all the support we can muster to make our pupils’ dream a reality.”
