Lisa Burke from Bchicy said she’s over the moon that her shop on Landress Lane in Beverley won the Tour de Yorkshire best window competition.
Speaking to HU17.net Lisa said;
“All the shops in the town were approached by the Chamber of Trade and asked to do something to show their support the tour de Yorkshire it passed through Beverley.”
Bchicy which is a home decor shop sells new and up cycled furniture put on a fantastic window display that included RooDog ebike, bunting and decorated bike wheel.
In recognition of our efforts, Lisa was presented with range of prizes, including a signed T-shirt with a five-time Tour de France winner Bernard Hinault.
Bernard won the tour de France in 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982 and in 1985 winning over 200 races one of his most famous quotes being, I race to win not to please anyone.
Lisa added;
“I’m over the moon to have won this competition. A lot of effort went into dressing the window, and I’m really proud that the judges recognised this.”
“We got involved as a business because it is events like this that help bring us retailers together and build good healthy community spirit.”
“By getting involved it allowed me to help some of the neighbouring businesses that also trade on Landress Lane.”
“For my decorations, I used a lot of the techniques I use when creating the furniture in my workshop here in the shop. I decor parged some bicycle wheels, the results really striking.”
“I spoke with a local business in Hornsea, who manufactures a revolutionary new bike, the RooDog and they were kind enough to allow me to put one in the window.”
A creative person by nature this acknowledgement means a lot Lisa who is still trying to build her business and name as a local independent retailer in the heart of Beverley.
Bchicy currently has a sale on in-store where a number of the pieces of furniture that Lisa has worked her magic on have been reduced.
