Beverley Community Choir annual charity concert proved to be a real success as they raised over £1000 for the two local charities.
A spokesperson for the musical group said;
“It was a fantastic evening of music and song took place at Toll Gavel United Church.”
“The fabulous East Riding Suzuki Violin Group were on top form, impressing the audience with their skill and musicianship, under the wonderful direction of Barbara Parham.”
“The youngest player was just three, the oldest eighteen and they performed a varied programme of delightful music, at one point involving an anvil.”
Beverley Community Choir rounded off the first half with three contrasting numbers, taking the audience to Finland, the States and ending with a moving vocal rendition of the well-known Pachebel’s canon.
In the second half there were more songs from across the world, covering the gospel and folk traditions of Britain, South Africa and Eastern Europe.
They added;
“Along with prior donations and raffle ticket sales on the night, the enjoyable event raised a marvellous total of over £1,200 for the Cherry Tree Community Association and the Marie Curie Beverley Group.”
You can catch the choir at the Beverley Folk Festival on 20 June, before they break for the summer.
