An export success story based on waste will be featured when World Trade Centre Hull & Humber holds its latest Getting to Yellow overseas selling seminar on Tuesday (June 2).
Speakers at the free Business Week event at Beverley Racecourse will include Stuart Wells, director of Transwaste, which is the UK’s fastest growing waste and resource management company.
Mr Wells will tell his audience at Beverley Racecourse how exports of waste-derived fuel have contributed to the firm’s success since it started out at Hessle in 2002.
The company moved to its present home at Melton in 2008 where it deals with more than 500,000 tonnes of waste a year and sends only five per cent to landfill.
“The event will emphasise the crucial importance of exporting to the success of the Humber economy,” said World Trade Centre director Lindsay West, who is joint managing director of Hull firm Garthwest Ltd.
Experts from UK Trade & Investment and World Trade Centre official business partners will be on hand to advise existing potential investors and there will be a chance form one-to-one meetings.
They believe thousands of businesses are missing export opportunities. UKTI says that, on average, companies can earn an extra £100,000 in additional sales within 18 months of working with them.
The seminar is part of the World Trade Centre’s Getting to Yellow cycling-themed campaign to promote overseas sales.
It will outline a simple five-step plan to start on the route to winning an export ‘yellow jersey’ and provide details of the support available for firms trading in overseas markets.
The seminar is open from 7.45am for breakfast, with an introduction at 8.30am, and runs to 10am.
