Then let East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Employment, Education and Skills Team boost your chances of finding an apprenticeship.
The team is looking for motivated people to come along and find out if they are suitable for current council vacancies and vacancies with local organisations who are recruiting now.
The open evening is taking place on Thursday, 25 June, 4.30- 6.30pm, at the council’s employment and skills centre, 33 Lairgate, Beverley, HU17 8ET.
There are many apprenticeship sectors out there, from the traditional trades, such as bricklaying, plumbing, joinery, chef, horticulture and engineering, to business administration, IT and customer service. There are currently around 150 apprenticeship vacancies in the East Riding and Humber area.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Employment, Education and Skills Team provide the training for the council’s business administration and information technology apprentices, where there are currently five vacancies. It also provides apprentices to organisations in the private sector and currently has ten vacancies available.
Sara Arnold, the council’s employment, education and skills group manager, said:
“There are lots of apprenticeship opportunities out there at the moment. If you are leaving school or sixth form and are not sure what to do next an apprenticeship might be the next step for you. If you don’t know much about apprenticeships and want to find out more, our open evening will provide a wealth of information to help you make your mind up.”
Councillor Jane Evison, cabinet portfolio holder for economic investment and tourism, said: “Helping support young people into work and further education is a key priority for the council and our employment, education and skills team is able to provide young learners with a variety of programmes to develop skills and boost confidence.”
