This weekend will see Cherry Burton Cricket Club travel to Middleton on the Wolds in the Eastern Conference Division 1 for the first of two back to back fixtures.
Cherry Burton still remain unbeaten this season and team captain Stew Scott says his side are ‘full of confidence’ going into Saturday’s game.
Scott has every reason to be confident as they field one of the strongest sides for this critical encounter.
Currently second in the league Cherry Burton will see the return of their promising youngsters, Aidan and Rob Wickenden for the trip to Middleton.
They both come into the side for the absent Brad Corrin and David Butt.
Speaking ahead of the game, skipper Stew Scott said;
“We are looking forward to Saturday as Middleton are a good set of lads and we always have a good game against them.”
“It’s a game which is very close to my heart and I would love to get a win there this weekend.”
“It’s a massive boost having the Wickenden twins coming back after their exams.”
“They are both quality players and I’m pleased to bring them straight back in. We are fielding one of our strongest sides on Saturday and I know if we work hard then we can get the victory.”
Going into the match Cherry Burton are just 26 points behind the league leaders Newport who face the bottom side, Hull III in this round of fixtures.
A win for the Cherry will keep them hot on the tails of the league leaders and with the sides meeting in just three weeks maximum points will be vital if they are to move ahead of them in the championship.
