Nightingale Expects ‘Challenging Fixture’ Against HICE

After last week’s rain effected draw Beverley Town Cricket Club third’s will look to get back to winning ways against Hull Ionians Coal Exporters.

Given the current standings in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League, this is yet another huge game and one they will need to win if they are to stay hot on the heels of the leaders Kirkella.
Speaking ahead of the game, Beverley’s skipper Alex Nightingale said;

“Again this is another challenging fixture as Hull Ionians Coal Exporters could surpass us in the table if they win at the weekend.”

“The importance of the fixture has been raised due to the other teams at the top of the league facing relatively easy fixtures.”

This is unusually is an away fixture for both teams, Hull Ionians Coal Exporters have a rugby tournament at their home ground meaning that Brandesburton will host the fixture. Nightingale believes that this is an advantage for Beverley, he said;

“Hull Ionians Coal Exporters is somewhere we really struggle at. To be presented with another fixture at Brandesburton is really pleasing.”

“It is a ground we have already picked up 30 points at this season, and we will look to do the same on Saturday.”

Beverley have already defeated Hull Ionians Coal Exporters this season in a really closely contested match. Nightingale commented;

“It was an excellent game of cricket last time out, we perhaps were 30 runs short in our total and they had a really good go.”

“There was only 8 runs in between the sides last time out so I expect another challenging fixture.”

If the skipper shows the same form as he did in the reverse fixture where he took four wickets and scored 34 runs then Beverley will have every chance of getting back on track with win.

Last week Hull Ionians Coal Exporters were beaten by South Holderness, the side who third in the table, one place ahead of Beverley.
