Beverley's Whistlestop Bowling Competition Raises Over £1000

Beverley Town Bowls Club hosted the Whistlestop Bowling Competition attracting 34 entries from around the region.

On the day, it was their neighbours and local rivals Flemingate Bowls Club that came out on top winning the £125 prize money that was on offer.

David Robson from Beverley town bowls club said;

“I would like to congratulate the team from Flemingate Bowls Club winning this year’s tournament.”

“May I also take this opportunity to thank the Beverley building society also Guest & Phillips for their ongoing sponsorship and support of this event and our club.”

The club raised a cracking total of over £1200 that will be used to pay for items the club requires on a day-to-day basis like fertilisers and top solils to maintain their greens.
Mr. Robson added:

“While we pay a membership to be part of the club this competition represents our biggest fundraising event pays for everything else we need. Example of this is recently when we had to replace the boiler clubhouse.”

“We have also been running a specific fundraising campaign to purchase a new shed to keep the club’s equipment in as the current one is just not up to the job any more.”

“For the past year, we have held novelty raffle selling off small bricks to a house which we made. The draw for this was also made at the event and in total, this alone raised the club £800 of which will go towards purchasing the new shed.”
