St Mary’s Church Beverley is looking forward to hosting a fantastic concert by the highly acclaimed Cantus Choir on Saturday 22nd August 2015 at 4pm. The Cantus Choir is based down in Rutland but they are regular visitors to St. Mary’s, Beverley.
The choir is led by conductor Alwyn Pollard who began his musical career here in Beverley. Alwyn said, “We are delighted to be able to give this concert in aid of the St. Mary’s Church Restoration fund.”
The Concert will be entitled “Music is the Food of Love” and is a programme of short secular pieces loosely linked by the theme of ‘Love’. It will include pieces by Mozart, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Gilbert & Sullivan, Arne, Shearing, Borodin, Wilberg, Cocker, Bridges & Easthope Martin. The choir will be accompanied by the very talented Organist, Thomas Keogh.
St. Mary’s Church Vicar, Rev Becky Lumley, is particularly delighted to see the Cantus Choir coming to the church. She says, “People may have already noticed that we have started some restoration work on the church drainage system. We have raised a fantastic amount of money so far but we still have a long way to go. Events like this concert are really helping to build up the fund.”
The performance will take place on:
Saturday 22nd August 2015 at 4pm in St. Mary’s Church, North Bar Within, Beverley.
Tickets are £7.50 each (£6 concession) and available from Beverley Tourist Information Office on 01482 391672 (ticket price to include tea/coffee/cakes in the interval).
