Cording Calls For Beverley To Be More Streetwise Against Hornsea

Beverley Town Football Club manager Ross Cording will be hoping his players can bounce back from their opening-day defeat as they host Hornsea Town at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Town got their Humber Premier League campaign off to the worst possible start on Saturday when they were hammered 6-1 by Wawne United.

Following a pitch inspection at Norwood due to the adverse weather tonight’s fixture has been given the go ahead and gaffer Ross Cording is calling for his players to be more ‘Streetwise’ he said;

“I expect a little more of a streetwise performance tonight. Our game on Saturday was a big learning curve for many of the players. I have made five changes and expect a better result.”

“From the match I am looking to win and for a pleasing performance of high tempo and quick ball movement which has been the basis of all of our pre-season.”

Last time the two sides met at Norwood it was Beverley that came away with all three points. At the time, the manager credited their former keeper, Adam Nicholson, for winning them the game.

Tonight Town will unviel their new Egyptian goalkeeper Amhed Attia, a player Cording is very excited about. Commenting on his signing, he said;

“Attia is a very exciting prospect, one of his key attribute’s ability to stop shots. During the training sessions where I have seen him play, I have to honestly say I’ve never seen a keeper at this level stop shots the way he does.”

Beverley will have some older heads to look to for their game with Cording confirming that Jonny Ricardo, Rob Northen and Adam Foster have all been named in the squad as to has Jamie Cording.

After shipping six goals in their opening a fixture Attia could be in for testing time this evening under the watchful eye of his manager who said he will be under the spotlight.

Horsnea come into the game having also lost on day one of the Humber Premier League going down 4-2 at home to South Cave.

Elsewhere in the league the top two sides, Wawne United and East Riding Rangers go head to head as both clubs look to maintain their 100% records.
