Make A Splash For Charity In Beverley

Residents of the East Riding are invited to swim the distance of the Channel in their local East Riding Leisure swimming pool to raise money for Aspire, a national charity that provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.

It’s a chance to join 5,000 other swimmers across the country who have signed up to swim 22 miles over a 12 – week period whilst raising funds for Aspire. Whilst it will be a challenge for swimmers taking part, the health and fitness benefits of completing the challenge are considerable.

Nicholas Saunders, swimming co-ordinator at East Riding Leisure Beverley, says:

“This is a great way of getting people in our community to raise money for a good cause, whilst being an excellent way of getting fit.”

Anybody who would like to take part in the challenge or make a donation should visit www.aspirechannelswim.co.uk or call 0800 0370 880.

East Riding Leisure swimming pools taking part are Beverley, Bridlington, Pocklington, Driffield, Goole, Haltemprice, Withernsea and Hornsea.

Every eight hours someone is paralysed by spinal cord injury. Aspire exists because there is currently no cure. Aspire provides essential services such as accessible housing, grants, assistive technology facilities and practical help to support spinal injured people from injury to independence.
