Longcroft Sixth Form Students Earn Representative Honours

Two members of Longcroft’s Sixth Form have earned representative honours in their chosen sports.

Carys Marsh and Rachael Woosey study A-Levels at Longcroft School alongside the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme at Bishop Burton College.

Carys and Rachael, who are both from St Helens, live at the College during term time and are able to jointly focus on their sporting and academic progress through a link between Longcroft and Bishop Burton.

Rachael recently represented England at Under 18 level in Rugby Union, while Carys played Rugby League for Great Britain Students.

Deputy Headteacher Andy Baker, who helped to establish the link with Bishop Burton, commented,

“Both girls are a credit to Longcroft and we are extremely proud that two members of our Sixth Form have earned international honours.”

“The AASE programme is an excellent pathway for talented young people who hope to play sport at a high level, and Bishop Burton provide tremendous support and coaching for those involved.”

“We are delighted that students who also want to follow an academic route and progress to university are able to do so with us.”

“It is a huge commitment for the girls to leave home at 16 and both Rachael and Carys are extremely dedicated.”

“They are both very popular students who are great role models and thoroughly deserve their success.”
