Beverley Minster Primary School has started advertising for a new headmaster following the appointment of Brian Stillings to the East Riding of Yorkshire Education and Schools advisory team.
Brian, who took over as headmaster in Spring 2013 following a disappointing OfSTED rating of ‘Satisfactory’ has seen the school judged as ‘Good’ throughout at the last inspection.
Chair of Governors Gillian Pickford said: “East Riding’s gain is our loss. Brian has been instrumental in raising standards throughout the school and we have seen especial improvements in areas such as the quality of teaching and learning, assessment, and in outcomes for pupils.
“The staff and pupils have benefited enormously from his leadership and, while we are sorry to be losing him so quickly, we are glad Brian’s skills will be available to all of the county and not just us.”
Brian joined Beverley Minster Primary School from Barmby on the Marsh Primary School where he had been head teacher for over three years, and was previously deputy head at Elloughton Primary. He also became an inspector for OfSTED in 2015.
“I shall really miss being headteacher at Beverley Minster Church of England Primary School” said Brian.
“It has been a privilege to work with such talented pupils, hardworking staff, supportive parents, the Minster family and a knowledgeable governing body, and I am now looking forward to using my skills to offer support across the county so that every child attends at least a ‘Good’ school.”
