Beverley Westwood Probus Club members and guests, including 3 Probians from their sister Club Beverley First Probus visited the Great Newsome Brewery.
David Woods from the Beverley Westwood Probus Club explained their day, he said;
“We were blessed with beautiful weather and Holderness looked its best under blue skies and bright sunshine on what proved to be the first day of the “Indian Summer” of a few weeks ago.”
“After an enjoyable lunch at the “Spotted Duck” we drove in convoy to Great Newsome Farm near Winestead. “
“Here we were given a presentation on brewing and shown around the micro-brewery by members of the Hodgson family.”
“They have farmed here for several generations and brewing is a significant diversification from their core business.”
“Appropriately one of their beers is named “Frothingham” which was the ancient name for the nearby village of Frodingham.”
“We were able to take advantage of the offers in the brewery shop to stock up in advance of the festive season.”
Membership of Beverley Westwood Probus Club is open to retired business or professional men.
Their next wvent will be a coffee morning at the Beverley Arms Hotel on Wednesday 28 October at 10.15 AM.
Anyone interested in attending should contact the Secretary, on 01482 869209.
