Yorkshire Award for Beverley Ale Festival Pie Firm

Beverley Real Ale festival sponsor AJ Pies and Pastries have taken the title in the Best Ready to Eat category at the ‘Deliciously Yorkshire’ taste awards 2015.

The company, who sponsored the increasingly popular Beverley event picked up the award last night for their renowned pork pie with blue cheese which featured at the recent Beverley Real Ale event as part of the town’s annual food festival.

The award comes amid intense competition from other pie makers in the region. However, judges where left in no doubt that the AJ Pies creation really delivered on flavour commenting; The Andrew Jones Pork Pie with Yorkshire Blue “was perfectly formed with a great balance of flavours and a real hit of delicious blue cheese”

AJ Pies and Pastries bakery manager Alan Wadsworth said “To win a Yorkshire award means a great deal to us.”

“We’ve been making delicious tasting pies for the people of Yorkshire for many years and most of our ingredients are locally sourced here – including the creamy Shepherds Purse Yorkshire Blue we’ve used for the winning pie.”

The Deliciously Yorkshire Awards exists to promote Yorkshire food and drink by highlighting the traditions, innovation and quality of what’s on offer.

Now in its 15th year, the 2015 awards to become where biggest event yet in the organisations history with a record number of entries.

AJ Pies and Pastries employs 29 local people and can proudly add this accolade its awards cabinet at the event having recently won a silver medal at the British Pie Awards.
