Beverley Town Academy Make Light Work of Reckitts

Beverley Town Academy went into this game looking to get back to winning ways, and had a strong squad available for selection.

Manager Rich Jagger changed formation to 3-5-2, giving young Aiden Fitzgerald his first start of the season, and switching Jake McMullen into the middle fir this East Riding County League fixture.

Town started strongly and had most of the early possession. After creating numerous chances, town finally went ahead when on 20 minutes when a long free kick was drilled into Reckitts box.

McMullen pulled the ball down with a deft touch, turned and drilled the ball past Reckitts keeper.

Town lost Zach Hebblethwaite to injury, which meant centre half Adam Waller came on to make his town debut.

Danny Dawes made it 2-0 shortly after when the ball was played into his feet mid way in Reckitts half.

Dawes used his strength to turn the centre back and struck a vicious left footed shot that flew past the keeper from 30 yards.

Town started the second half in the same fashion, creating chances and keeping a tight control of midfield. Aiden Fitzgerald continued to cause problems for the Reckitts defence, and it was his short corner that led to the third goal.

From the left hand side fitzgerald played a short corner to Luke Oldfield’s feet, after a great piece of skill Oldfield turned his man and fired a great ball into the box for Mike Martin to get on the end of and kill the game off at 3-0.

AFC Reckitts tried to get back in the game, and as Town tired the game got a little stretched. A late penalty for Reckitts gave them a glimmer of hope.

Town brought on Ryan Fitzgerald and Ollie Grantham who both freshened up the team and in the end Town should have added a couple more goals to their tally.
