An insight into the drama, music and festive customs which entertained East Riding residents during medieval times will be uncovered at an event at the Treasure House in Beverley on Tuesday 10 November, at 6.30pm.
Dr Diana Wyatt has been delving through the historic East Riding Archives at Beverley to discover important information about how people kept themselves entertained centuries before there was any Coronation Street, Breaking Bad or Casualty to give them their drama ‘fix’.
During her PhD at the University of York she based her thesis around manuscript archives of drama, music and entertainment in medieval Beverley. She is now working with Durham University on a project called Records of Early English Drama North-East and a full range of the historical archives she has been exploring at the Treasure House will be revealed as she explores the mystery of medieval drama.
Tickets for her talk, ‘Drama, Documents and Detective Work’, at the Treasure House are now on sale at £5 each, and booking is essential. Tickets can be booked at www.eastriding.gov.uk/events, ring (01482) 392699 or visit the Archives at the Treasure House in Champney Road.
