When You Wish Upon a Star children’s charity has been voted Beverley Building Society’s Charity of the Month for October by its members.
The Society’s donation of £250 will help to support the charity’s dedication to granting wishes to children between the ages of 2 and 16 years old who are suffering from a life threatening or terminal illness.
Regionally the charity has granted over 2,500 wishes during the last 20 years, creating some very special and treasured memories for both the children and their families.
Gemma Summerfield, Yorkshire’s When you wish upon a Star representative said:
“We receive letters on a daily basis from parents, hospitals and hospices asking if we can make a wish come true for another child.”
“We never know how many wish requests we will receive or when they will come in to us. This is why it is so vital that we have the funds available to grant them when they do come in.” ]
“I would like to thank the members of Beverley Building Society who voted for When You Wish Upon a Star. The donation received will go a long way in helping children’s wishes come true across East Yorkshire.”
Beverley Building Society Marketing Manager Ed Davies said:
“The work which the charity does to help wishes become reality is truly remarkable.”
“All children have wishes, but for children suffering from terminal illnesses, these are so much more precious and we’re delighted that our donations can help support these wishes, each bringing with it the opportunity to look forward to something very special, to forget about their treatments and to simply be a child for the day.”
