Blue & Golds Training Boosted By Arrival Of Scott Taylor

Beverley ARLC have just reported back for pre-season training. In what promises to be an eventful close season on and off the field, head coach Pat Howdle announced the first development.

He introduced a new addition to the coaching team in the shape of Scott Taylor. Formerly of Hull KR, Wigan, Salford and now Hull FC on a four-year contract, it will be seen as something of a coup for the club. Still only 24, Scott was a former pupil of Longcroft School after moving to Beverley at the age of 12. Pleased to be back in East Yorkshire, he said;

“I’ve committed to be around here for at least four years, and I can’t wait to get cracking. He also said; “It is exciting times at his club with Pat talking about his ambitions for the club of National Conference League status soon.”

Taylor was at the first training session last Thursday on the Longcroft 3G pitch which saw a good turnout of players put through a quality session. Howdle commented;

“Its good to be back in the groove. I wasn’t going to start a pre-season until nearer Christmas, but several players have been nagging me to get started. Hopefully such enthusiasm should bode well for 2016.”

Meanwhile away from the field the club’s last monthly meeting was a very busy one. A couple of options were discussed as to where the club would be calling home in the future years, both of which were not ready yet to go into the public domain.

Furthermore, plans were put in place by Steve Ellerington, now back on he club’s committee, for a player’s re-union on the 22nd January 2016. The event would coincide with the 21st anniversary of Beverley knocking out Highfield-then a professional club out of the Rugby League Challenge Cup.

Pre-season training will continue every Thursday evening on the Loncroft 3G pitch. New players are welcomed and also existing players who may have drifted away and lost interest due to lack of opportunities for game-time last season.

The club will also be running an ‘A’ team next season to be coached by Darren Whitehead. Training starts at 6. 45pm.
