Take That is set to be one of the key attractions at this year’s Beverley Christmas Lights Switch On.
Take That Live Tribute Band will appear on the Beverley FM at 5 PM stage alongside local acts, including the dance group Streetbeatz return for the second year.
Phil Scaife, the chairman of the Beverley Christmas Lights Switch On, a group within the Beverley Chamber of Trade explained why the event important to the town, he said;
“This event marks the start of the festive season in Beverley and kicks off the trading period.”
“It brings people from Beverley into the town centre who browse and shop, but it also pulls visitors into the town of areas that helps to boost our local economy.”
“Unlike other events in the town the Beverley Christmas Lights Switch On allows local charities to showcase their work to thousands of people and also fund raise, encompassing the true spirit of
Christmas.”
This year the job of switching on the lights in Beverley will be done by CBBC presenter Ben Shires, who says he is hugely excited about the prospect of lighting-up Beverley for Christmas.
There will be further attractions on the evening to keep all the family entertained with special events being staged at Flemingate and all the way through to the Georgian Quarter.
Starting at midday on 29 November and continuing until 6:30 PM at Saturday Market, there will be things happening.
At The Royal Standard, there will be a real ale festival with the pub donating 10p from every pint sold to the St Mary’s Church Appeal.

Mr. Scaife added;
“Everyone who is involved in organising the event is really looking forward to the day. Children will have the opportunity to meet Father Christmas at a special grotto that we will have set up Saturday Market.”
