Beverley Town Football Club suffered a disappointing defeat this weekend as they were beaten by Hornsea Town in the Humber Premier League.
Defeat leaves Beverley just two points above the relegation zone and some 18 points behind the league leaders Wawne United.
Beverley started badly and found themselves two goals down inside the first sixteen minutes, and things could have been worse had Luke Cotton not saved a penalty.
For the remainder of the first-half Beverley put on a better show and got back in the match when Craig Muirhead pulled on back for the visitors.
Hornsea fought back and restored their two-goal advantage in the second period. Beverley, however, did manage to get back on level terms as Dan Norton and Matthew Littlefield both found the net.
Again, it was the home side that made the all-important breakthrough scoring their fourth goal before they closed the game out to seal all three points.
This weekend Beverley Town will host Driffield Evening Institute at the Norwood Recreation Ground.
The sides are currently both neck and neck in the Humber Premier League, and this is a match Beverley cannot afford to lose.
