Tesco Asks Customers To Give Generously This Winter

Tesco in Beverley is asking their customers to give generously this Christmas as the super market giant looks to help stop people going hungry this winter.

Taking place from 3rd to 5th December customers will be asked to donate non-perishable food items such as long-life milk, cereals and tinned goods such as soup, fruit and vegetables.

Mark Pickering, Store Manager at Tesco Beverley, said:

“We are so excited that the seventh Neighbourhood Food Collection is about to take place.”

“It is always lovely to see the local community come together, and dig deep to help those in need over the festive period.”

“Last year, there was a great buzz around the store, all the staff, volunteers and customers worked together to raise an amazing 3614 meals.”

“We really hope this collection is even bigger than last year, and makes a difference to people’s lives this Christmas.”

With its partner charities Trussell Trust and FareShare, Tesco says this will be their its biggest Neighbourhood Food Collection to date.

Run twice a year, during the summer and close to Christmas, the collection aims to provide food to families and individuals in need.

Last winter, an incredible 4.7million meals were donated and Tesco hopes that this collection, its seventh, will beat that record.

Tesco will be adding an extra 30% to all customer donations in the form of financial support to the two charities, helping them expand their network and reach more people in need.

Volunteers from The Trussell Trust are expected to join Tesco staff in stores over the course of the three days to collect donations from customers.

The Neighbourhood Food Collection takes place in all Tesco stores across the country from Thursday 3 December to Saturday 5 December.
