Bridlington Extends Lead At Top Of The Table

Beverley Town Reserves are now six points behind Bridlington Town Reserves in the East riding County League after they were beaten 3-0 at Longcroft.

Beverley Town went into the game having won the last four consecutive games. Beverley also knew a win would put them level on points with the current leaders of the Premier Division, Bridlington Town.

Goals from Jason Barnes, Christopher Eyre and Frankie Reffold ensured it was the visitors who won the game to extend their advantage at the summit of the table.
Beverley Town’s Gary Proud commenting on the game said;

“This was disappointing result and performance from us. We could have gone top with a win, but we really failed to adapt to difficult conditions in the same way Bridlington did.”

“Playing into the wind the first half felt we battled well without enjoying much possession. We gifted them the first goal for a moment of indecision at the back that let their forwarding to slot home from close range.”

“While we have the advantage of the wind in the second half performance was still below the usual standards. Conceding the penalty was a real setback as Bridlington doubled their lead, and added another later just to kill them off.”

This weekend Beverley Town Reserves are again at home as host Goole United in the East Riding County League, Premier division.

With just eight points between the sides Beverley Town will be looking to get back to winning ways stay hot on the heels of Bridlington in the race for the championship.
