The Beverley Festival of Christmas will celebrate its 20th year of running on Sunday, 13 December, from 10am-4pm, starting with the festival parade and official opening in Wednesday Market.
The parade will once again be led by Santa and his reindeer and will feature marching bands, Bernese Mountain Dogs, steam punks and many more.
The festival is offering a wide selection of Traditional Victorian Christmas market stalls selling a mixture of colourful crafts, festive gifts and specialty seasonal foods. These will be situated in Wednesday Market and Saturday Market, with town activities, fairground rides and entertainment in between.
In a new addition to the festival this year, The Westwood Sessions Entertainment will take place in a marquee at the North Bar and will boast performances from young and local musical talent.
A record fifty coaches will bring people from far and wide to the event, thanks to the free coach parking offered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Councillor Jane Evison, cabinet portfolio holder for economic investment and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Beverley is a very special place and Christmas is a very special time. I think that is why this festival is so popular and keeps growing every year.
“Visitors to the town will be spoilt for choice and will also be able to soak up the merry atmosphere whilst visiting the many stalls available.
“With visitor numbers growing every year and acknowledgment from the Visit Hull and East Yorkshire Remarkable Tourism Awards, the festival is a great way to get all the family into the Christmas spirit.”
This year, EyEvents has conducted an online Twitter campaign which includes the delivery of a series of Twitter feeds for The Twelve Days of Christmas, with each day focusing on a specific stall or activity.
