NHS England awards more than £1/2 million to transform Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in the East Riding
In a statement released they said;
“We are pleased to announce that NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been awarded £600,000 to transform child and adolescent mental health services in the area.”
“The CCG along with East Riding of Yorkshire Council have been working together and have already invested in CAMHS in anticipation of receipt of this funding to get ahead on implementation in areas critical to improving services.”
“Granted by NHS England, the money is to support transformation plans developed in response to the Government’s Future in mind report which encourages a whole system approach to promotion, protection and improvement of the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.”
“Working in partnership with Humber NHS Foundation Trust, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council the CCG developed its local transformation plan for the promotion, protection and improvement of the mental health and wellbeing of our children and young people.”
The plan was submitted to NHS England in October, and has now been formally accepted as meeting their criteria in full.
NHS England also commented on the plan’s strengths in a number of areas: collaborative focus, Learning Disabilities, autism looked after children, and needs assessment.
East Riding of Yorkshire has also been fortunate in being accepted as one of the pilot sites for the national schools link project and will use this as an opportunity to develop a range of early intervention pathways both in and out of the school setting.
The East Riding of Yorkshire Transformation Plan builds on work already in progress to redesign specialist community Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and to improve links with other services for children and young people.
Jane Hawkard, Chief Officer, NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group said:
“I’m delighted we have been awarded this funding by NHS England.”
“We have anticipated these funds and already started work in earnest to improve access to services for children and young people in the East Riding making it easier for them to receive earlier treatment.
“It will also help us to enrich the range and quality of services we can offer, in particular the promotion of good mental health and early intervention to not only improve children and young people’s mental health, but to help prevent mental illness developing.”
“There were many plans submitted from across the country so we’re pleased for our patients and residents that our plans were promoted nationally as good practice.”
