Senior Citizens Enjoy Christmas Lunch at DST

Local pensioners have been wined and dined at the Defence School of Transport.

The annual event which is held at the world’s largest residential driver training school took place in the Warrant Officers’ & Sergeants’ Mess at Normandy Barracks.

The 40 senior citizens from the Walkington Pop-In Group were met by their host and a warm welcoming glass of sherry, followed by a 3 course Christmas lunch served by service men and women from the Defence School of Transport.

When the Christmas pudding settled everyone had the privilege to be entertained by the fantastic Leconfield Primary School Choir, an event which will no doubt stay in the memory of all for a very long time.

Following generous donations from local businesses, the guests had 1 final surprise of Tombola. All the guest’s, and host’s had a fantastic time and agreed it was great way to start the festive season.

The guests whose ages ranged from 66 upwards were selected and escorted by the Age UK Community Team.
