Beverley Town Beaten By Title Contenders Sculcoates

Beverley Town Football Club have slipped back to ninth spot in the Humber Premier League after they were beaten by second place Sculcoates Amateurs.

Goals from Eleazer Ezekiel and Michael Gawthorpe were enough to secure all three points as town were beaten for the seventh time this season.

Again Town failed to get going in game many thought would be a much closer encounter. Sculcoates took advantage of this, opening the scoring inside seven minutes.

Gaffer Ross Cording turned to the bench introducing the pace of Daniel Kingsley and Kyei Kwadwo.

The move nearly paid off when Town felt they had a good shout for a penalty turned down by match referee Phillip Cartlich who was unmoved by their appeals.

As the visitors pressed looking for an equaliser and were caught on the break by the home side who scored their second of the game to secure the points.

Beverley will enjoy a short break over the festive period before they return action on 9 January with a daunting trip to Hull University to face Reckitts AFC.
