Members and supporters of UKIP have been in Beverley as they look to convince people as a nation will we be better by not being part of the European Union.
Jane Collins and Mike Hookem who are MEP’s for UKIP representing Yorkshire were in the town centre to meet with members of the public.
They said that although they may be MEP’s who receive an allowance from Europe they would welcome the closure of the European Parliament and were in effect voting for their own roles to be disbanded.
Key messages the group were trying to get across included the £55m per day which the UK ploughs into the Europe Union, the free movement of people, assurances against joining a ‘disastrous’ Euro and to restore sovereignty to the UK Parliament.
One campaigner said the money pumped into the EU by Britain would be far better being spent in UK and could help fund services which are being cut by the current Conservative Government.
While no date has been set for when the public will get to go to the polls and have their say on the UK’s future of being part of the EU, UKIP will continue to push their message of Say No Believe in Britain.
