This week, Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, is hosting the Flood Advisory Service roadshow trailer in Beverley.
Commenting on the visit of the Flood Advisory Service Graham said;
“I have invited the Flood Advisory Service to bring their roadshow to Beverley this week.”
“Over the Christmas period, we have all seen the pictures of the devastating flooding in Cumbria, Dumfriesshire, Lancashire and other parts of Yorkshire.”
“Many people in the East Riding have suffered in the past from flooding and have had to recover not only from the damage to land and property but, also, from the emotional trauma of the experience.”
“It is a reminder of the need to have good flood defences in place in our own area. Just because we escaped the terrible flooding this winter, we cannot afford to be complacent.”
Beverley has been hit by flooding in recent years that has seen the parts of the Westwood flood but measures to tackle flooding locally seem to have made a difference.
Their planned roadshow has been welcomed by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service who say it will give people a chance to learn how to protect their homes.
A spokesperson for the Flood Advisory Service said;
“The road show is designed to provide both free and impartial advice on flooding to the residents of Beverley and the surrounding areas.”
“We have information screens, booklets, flood risk checkers and sample products – homeowners can simply come on board and discuss their concerns over a hot drink.”
The Flood Advisory Service roadshow trailer It will be parked in the car park of Tesco’s on Morton Lane in Beverley on Thursday 14th January between 10am and 7pm and on Friday 15th January between 10am and 2pm.
